Today was the launch of our Literacy Transition Project for our children moving onto Primary 1 in August 2017. The children and their parents and carers joined us to listen to the story Blown Away about penguin Blue and his friends.
We all joined together across the campus in Children’s House garden and play rooms to fly Blue and his kite and have a snack together with our friends going to the same school.
Having snack together with our friends going to St Francis.
Having snack with our friends going to Niddrie Mill, Brunstane and Castleview Primary Schools.
Creating our penguins and kites together.
Showing off our amazing kites and penguins.
Today the whole campus went to Almondvalley Farm and Heritage Center
. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had lots of fun.
Today on the campus parents and carers were invited to stay and play with their children as part of our Reading Rainbow event. Every child was given a bag containing stories, activities and drawing materials to support their literacy and numeracy skills.
In Skye we listened to the stories with our families and then created a character from one of them together.
“The best bit about Chinese New Year was the food, it was delicious”, said Aimee.
With the expertise of Miss Jo the children in Skye had the pleasure of creating and tasting some authentic Chinese food. It was our busiest snack of the year so far!
In Skye we have been welcoming our returning and new children and their families into nursery at the beginning of the new session.
We are making new friends and have been exploring and demonstrating our physical skills outside.
